When partial or total ownership of a property is transferred to a new owner, a deed needs to be filed. This is a legal document that is only used when ownership is transferred and is the ONLY way ownership can be transferred.
Deeds are recorded within the county land records where the property is located. Deeds are public records, which means anyone can view them at any time.
When you’ve closed on your property, you don’t need to worry about recording the deed with the county. Your title or escrow agent takes care of all of that for you.
